World Mental Health Day

October 10th is World Mental Health Day — a chance for all of us to reflect on how we support mental health in our schools, workplaces, and communities.
This year’s theme is “Access to Services: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” which is such an important reminder about making sure support is available, especially in tough times. Visit our Mental Health and Well-Being Resources page for helpful links and supports.

In the lead-up to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, schools across the Sea to Sky School District came together to honour this important day in meaningful ways. Some schools hosted ceremonies, while others engaged in practices that grounded the community in reconciliation, fostered connections to the land, and supported learning through language, culture, and lived experience. Air Quality and School Operations

We are closely monitoring the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) reported by Environment Canada, as conditions in our region may fluctuate in the coming days. We will be following the AQHI-recommended actions based on the level of air quality, and each school will continue to respond to changing conditions throughout the day to support the health and safety of students and staff. Please note, our HVAC systems are running continuously. All schools' air handling systems (HVAC) use MERV-13 filters, which are effective in capturing smoke particulates. For more information, we’ve shared a helpful resource from Vancouver Coastal Health.
